Wat Haisoke
Shaded temple offering a glimpse of local life
It may be less recognized than Wat Ong Teu, which sits directly opposite, but Wat Haisoke’s impressive five-tiered roof and elegant golden spires make it well worth a visit for the curious traveler.
The temple recently underwent a restoration, reinstating the full beauty of its beautifully carved timber windows and façade. But visitors will most likely find the atmosphere just as appealing as the architecture. Children can often be seen playing football in the shady courtyard, and food vendors sell fragrant local delicacies from the neighboring wooden houses, making Wat Haisoke an appealing retreat from city life.
