From around 4pm until late in the evening, hundreds of brightly lit stalls pop up along a central stretch of the Mekong River.

The market is a popular evening destination for local residents, and is less tourist-focused than its guidebook-favored alternative in Luang Prabang. But visitors will catch a glimpse of local trends and fashions, as well as a wide range of contemporary and traditional products such as handmade silks, hill-tribe souvenirs and silver jewelry.
